I will sing of mercy and justice; To You, O Lord, I will sing praises.
I will behave wisely in a perfect way. Oh, when will you come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me. A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness. Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure. My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, That they may dwell with me; He who walks in a perfect way, He shall serve me. He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence. Early I will destroy all the wicked of the land, That I may cut off all the evildoers from the city of the Lord. Psalm 101 NKJV David knew the Lord is a God of mercy and justice. He dispenses them perfectly without error or partiality. That is just one of the many reasons we should sing God’s praises! David makes a promise to be perfect in his thoughts and actions. He also promises to make sure the people around him behave perfectly. Is that even possible? And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested. 1 Chronicles 4:10 The bible tells us Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, why? Jabez called on the God of Israel. He had the faith to believe the Lord would answer His prayer and the wisdom to ask God to place limits on his life. Jabez’ mother named him saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” His mother did not speak words of life over Jabez. she cursed him with a name that reminded him of the pain he caused her. Jabez overcame his inauspicious birth. He became a man of honor! It was his faith in God that made Jabez more honorable than his brothers. The shame of things he could not change did not separate him from the Lord. It drove him to God. Your life will never be perfect. You can be declared righteous through faith in a perfect God. You can lead other people to righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ! Your past may have been tainted by guilt and shame. That does not matter to Jesus. The curse of your past has been lifted. Your future will be all God promises to people who love and obey Him. God promises to honor people who honor His Son! Call on the name of the Lord. Jesus will answer with blessing. Accept the limits the Lord places on your life. They will keep you from harming yourself and others. www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
