In my distress I cried to the Lord, And He heard me. Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips And from a deceitful tongue. Psalm 120:1-2 NKJV
David prays for deliverance from false accusers. His enemies inflicted great distress upon him, or did they? David’s enemies never defeated Him. There were times when he was overcome on the battlefield of his mind! I heard someone say, “It is none of my business what other people think of me.” It really does not matter what people say about us either! David was far too concerned with what other people were saying about him. David was the anointed leader of God’s people. He could have killed the people gossiping and lying about him. He chose not to. He trusted God to take vengeance on his enemies. The Lord described David as having a heart after His very own. The Lord accepted David regardless of his sins failures and mistakes. God loved David. Kings came forth from David’s body. Jesus Christ was of the house and lineage of David! I do not know if David had an inordinate need for approval and acceptance. I know many of us do. It is one of the reasons we give in to peer pressure. It is why we care so much what other people think and say about us! Someone I hardly know said very harsh things about me. I told him his opinion was irrelevant. I rehearsed the conversation over and over again in my mind until I was enraged. I didn’t sleep well for days. I was so tense my body ached. We all long for acceptance and approval. Both are available to us today! Jesus has anointed you to be a leader among His people. He wants to form His heart in you. He wants to give you the wisdom only he can. The King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s resides within you. You will dwell in His Kingdom and reign with Him throughout eternity! Jesus created you to be loved by Him. He accepts you just as you are. You do not need with people who celebrate you! Cry out to the Lord when we you are hurt and angry. Take control of your thought life. Be victorious on the battlefield of your mind through faith in Jesus Christ! www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
