Your throne, O God is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. Psalm 45 NKJV
The psalmist’s heart is overflowing with a good report. He gives praise and honor to the Lord. He says, “My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.”
This is the royal wedding psalm. The author describes the Lord with words that reveal his love for God. It is also a prayer. The psalmist is speaking to God. His heart cannot contain the depth of emotion welled up within it. He is in love with God!
I saw a post on facebook that said, I don’t brag about my love for God. I brag about His love for me. Nothing self-willed is worthy of bragging rights.
I know what it is like to have a heart so full of God’s love I cannot contain my love for Jesus. That is why I write these devotionals. It is why I am able to write them.
I love Jesus more than I can communicate to another person. My love for Him is a response to His love for me! It is not something I can muster up in my own strength. It is not something to brag about. It is something that should be shared with other people!
The psalmist goes on to describe the object of the Kings desire. Yes, God does have His eye on someone. Jesus will take a bride into eternity with Him.
The King of heaven and earth is anointed with the oil of gladness. He will pour out this oil upon His bride. Her clothing is woven with gold. She will be brought before the King in a robe of many colors. She will be glorious within the Kings palace.
The bride is described in feminine terms. She is not a woman. She is all people who worship the Lord of glory. She is both man and woman. We are the bride of Christ!
Women are more comfortable declaring their love for Jesus than most men. They are more comfortable thinking of themselves as the bride of Christ.
I would never describe myself as a bride except in this context. I am learning to abandon my machismo and unworthy self image. I am learning to receive God’s love and declare my love for Him. Are you?
I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations; Therefore the people shall praise You forever and ever. Vs 17
We should never boast about anything we do in our own strength and wisdom. We should boast in the Lord and what He does in our lives as often as we can!
Pray for people who read these messages to be impacted by God’s love. Pray for people to be introduced to the King of Glory. Pray for people who read these messages to give praise and honor to the King of Glory.
Pray for people who do not know Jesus to fall in love with the true King of Heaven and Earth!
