Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:12-13 NKJV
The Apostle Paul founded the Philippian church. He was grateful the church continued to follow God though he was no longer with them. Paul encouraged them to work out their salvation with fear and trembling. What does it mean to work out your salvation with fear and trembling? God did great things in the early days of my Christian walk. Jesus freed me from drug addiction and alcoholism. Jesus brought love into my life. The Lord revealed He would lead me and guide me on my journey of faith. I never struggled with belief in God. I did fail to live in obedience to Jesus. I failed to live according to the commands and instructions God gives us in the bible. My friend and first pastor calls that living in practical unbelief! Paul is telling us to seek God as if our eternal destiny hangs in the balance. He calls us to continue growing in the grace of God even when we suffer trials and hardships. We must continue in our walk of faith because other people’s lives hang in the balance. Jesus is preparing us for the good works He wants to accomplish with our lives. The Lord did not save us so we could go to church on Sunday. Jesus saved us so He could use us to save other people! God is telling us not abuse the grace of God. He is telling us to live as though our lives matter to Him because they do. How we live affects the people all around us! Jesus can do amazing things through simple acts of obedience. As we step out in faith and obey God obedience becomes a habit. A habit of living in obedience to God becomes a lifestyle of living in obedience to the Lord! Jesus wants us to trust Him. The best way to trust God is to live the way He wants us to live. If you trust Jesus He will bless you. The Lord will use you to bless other people. You will witness the miraculous things Jesus can accomplish through an obedient life. When the Lord takes you to be with Him you will experience inexpressible and unending joy. You will be surrounded by the people Jesus loved through you. You will be reunited with the people Jesus used to love you! Trust Jesus with your life today. Demonstrate your love for Jesus through obedience to Him! http://www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
