The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory. Psalm 64 NKJV
Oppressed by wicked people but rejoicing in the Lord David prayed for deliverance. He called down curses and judgment on his (God’s) enemies. David was enduring a season of opposition and oppression. David accused his enemies of evil plots and wicked scheming. He described them as people who oppress the poor and abuse the weak. Were these people really God’s enemies? What makes someone an enemy of God? Much of David’s opposition came from leaders in the army and nation of Israel. They were not criminals, idol worshipers or heathens. They followed the laws and religious customs of the Jews. They coveted the power and authority God entrusted to David. God has a different definition of evil and wickedness than we do. He has a different definition of righteousness and holiness than some of us might. Evil people have no reverence for God or fear of Him. Wicked people live as though God does not exist. We can be outwardly religious without ever knowing the Lord. David’s enemies were God’s because they opposed the anointed leader of His people. They placed themselves in direct confrontation with God by opposing His will. They may have followed the legalistic religious customs of man but never surrendered to the Lord! David committed adultery and murder. He abused his power and authority. His sin was placed behind God’s back never to be remembered again. God loved and honored David because his heart was upright. David trusted the God who loved him! David lived out his life in the fear and admonition of the Lord! David listened when God spoke to him. He was a righteous man who sought the Lord with all his heart mind body and soul. David lived a life of holiness and separation unto God despite his sin mistakes and failures! Most of the world lives as though Jesus does not exist. People place themselves in direct confrontation with God by opposing His will and authority. They may live good moral lives but refuse to humble their hearts before God’s anointed, Jesus Christ! God knows your sins failures and mistakes past present and future. If you walk in righteousness and holiness He has already placed them behind His back never to be remembered again. Wisdom calls out in the streets. Listen for her voice! Humble yourself before God’s anointed. Seek Jesus with all your heart mind body and soul. God’s anointed will make Himself known to you. Trust the God who loves you. Bask in the Glory of His love! This Psalm was written to demonstrate God’s righteous judgment toward the wicked, to show God’s authority over them, to lead wicked people to seek the Lord and exhort the righteous to p www.joyfor2day.com www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
