But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
When I read this verse of scripture my attitude changes. God encourages me. He renews my strength. I stop wondering how I can make it through the day. I start wondering what the Lord will do in me and through me today!
God spoke to me. He said, “serve your brother”. Then He led me into a dark and evil place. It was full of people in bondage to sin.
Each day of the first week my co-workers asked if I was coming back. The first four days I answered confidently that I would be back. By the end of the week I was not sure I could work there. I was searching for an excuse not to go back.
Five days a week I went into the stronghold of the enemy. Jesus gave me what I needed to complete the work He set before me. Jesus gave me the strength to run and not grow weary. I continued my walk of faith through the valley of the shadow of death. I did not faint!
I have a dream and desire God put in my heart. I know He will bring it to pass. I know I will serve Jesus. God will be glorified. I will be blessed.
Will you dare to believe in dreams so big only God can make them come true? Will you believe in dreams so big they are impossible without God’s intervention?
If you need God’s intervention be encouraged. You are right where Jesus wants you. The Lord wants to renew your strength. Jesus will enable you to run and not grow weary. Jesus will enable you to continue your walk of faith. With His help you will not faint!
God will prepare you for the work He created you to accomplish before the foundations of the world were put in place. Jesus has a perfect plan for your life. Jesus will bring it to pass!
Serve Jesus with an unshakable resolve that He is God. Jesus will be glorified. You will be blessed forever!
For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon you. Psalm 86:5 NKJV
King David is praying. This was after he committed adultery and murder. David did not just commit adultery. He was a womanizer. David did not just commit murder. He was a man of war since his youth. David’s sins were too many to count.
God loved David. That is one of the reasons He called David, “A man after my own heart.” God knew him better than David knew himself. God knew David would seek Him all the days of his life.
Through all of his struggles David continued to seek the Lord. He trusted God in spite of his circumstances. He believed in the goodness of God even though he suffered trials and hardship. He trusted in the mercy of God even when the Lord judged Him!
God is Holy. He calls us to be Holy. He also knows the temptations we face. He knows our struggles. God knows what is in our hearts.
These are not just words to David. The bible says out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. These words are what was in David’s heart.
David received the mercy and forgiveness of God because he called out to God for mercy and forgiveness. His fear and reverence for God was greater than his desire for the temporary pleasures of sin. David trusted in God’s goodness because he knew the Lord.
God is not giving us a license to sin. David passed on his womanizing ways to Solomon. That was Solomon’s downfall. God is telling us through Him we have victory over sin!
Jesus wants you to call on Him today!
Call on God regardless of your circumstances. Call out to him regardless of your sinful habits or lifestyle.
God is a rewarded of people who diligently seek Him. Seek Jesus while you can still find Him. Seek Jesus today!
Trust Jesus. He is good. He is abundant in mercy and grace. Jesus is ready to forgive everyone who calls on Him!
Jesus takes great delight in people who call upon Him. You can bless Jesus today. Bless the Lord of heaven and earth by calling out to Him!
David praised the Lord with all His of heart, will you? David knew the Lord is a God of compassion, and grace, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth, do you? If you are not sure praise the Lord and discover the goodness of God for yourself!
Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless. Isaiah 40:21-23 NKJV
Almighty God is declaring His sovereignty over creation. There is no one like the Lord!
Jesus wants us to give Him that which is rightfully His, first place in our lives. Jesus desires our devotion our worship and our love above all things!
Christianity is not a set of rules and rituals that must be followed to earn favor with God. If we could earn our way into relationship with Jesus His sacrifice would be meaningless!
God loves us. He wants us to love Him. The Christian life is lived out in relationship with Jesus. He does want us to obey His commands, but not out of fear. He does not want us to be afraid He will turn His back on us.
The marriage relationship exemplifies what Jesus wants with us. My wife and I love each other very much. There are things she expects from me. There are things I expect from her. We do them out of love for each other. Not out of fear one of us will leave.
Jesus loves you more than anyone can. Jesus will never stop loving you. He will never leave you. He will be with you when you get out of bed in the morning. Jesus will be with you when you lay your head down at night.
Jesus will walk with you through the trials and hardships of the life He gave you. Jesus will rejoice with you during seasons of triumph and success.
If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus what are you waiting for? Are you waiting for a sign from God? Are you waiting for evidence Jesus is who He claims to be? God has already provided those things.
The creatures that inhabit our world could not have evolved by random chance and natural selection. God created them. The universe was not created by spontaneous combustion. The Lord spoke it into existence!
Creation has a creator. His name is Jesus. He is the eternal Son of God. He is God. He is waiting for you to incline your heart towards Him. Jesus is waiting for you to show Him how much you love Him. Jesus is waiting to show you how much He loves you!
In your heart you have always known God created all things. Do not try to convince yourself there is any other way you could exist. A personal loving God created you to know what true love is!
Turn to the lover of your soul today. Go out into your world and speak the truth of God to people who need Jesus. Live for the God who gave you the gift of life!
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk in it, Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21 NKJV
God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. The Lord never changes.
God desired intimate relationship with Adam and Eve. He spoke to Abraham and led Him to a land He did not know. God delivered the children of Israel from bondage in Egypt. The Great I Am led Israel through the dessert into the Promised Land.
Jesus lived among His disciples and taught them. He met Paul on the road to Damascus.
Jesus wants to live in intimate relationship with you today. Jesus will lead you and guide you in the way you should go today!
I am struggling to focus on the goodness and mercy of God today. I am having a difficult time waiting for the Lord today. I do not feel like God’s favorite child today.
Our circumstances do not change God’s character. God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. Jesus knows we will have good days and bad days. Jesus wants us to trust Him all the time with everything!
God’s promise to lead us and guide us in the direction we should go is for the mountain tops strolls of life as much as it is for our trudge through the valley of weeping and mourning!
You may be physically, emotionally, or financially struggling today. Maybe it has been a long struggle. Maybe somebody you love has hurt you. You may have lost a job or even someone you love. God has not left you. He has not abandoned you.
The God who hung the stars in the night sky and calls them all by name knows your name. Call out to Him. Share the anguish of your soul with Him!
If you are strolling along the mountain tops of life call out to Jesus. Praise Him for His goodness and mercy. Praise Him for His blessings. Praise Jesus for the love He so freely lavishes on people who trust Him!
Call out to the Lord regardless of your circumstances. Jesus wants to love you right where you are today.
If you listen God will speak to you. Jesus will tell you where to go, where to turn and when to stop and be still!
Turn to the Lord for guidance. Trust Jesus to lead you and guide you on your walk of faith. Jesus will be with you all the days of your life. Jesus will lead you safely into the loving arms of your Heavenly Father!
My God, My God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from helping me? And from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; And in the night season and am not silent. Psalm 22:1-2 NKJV
David prayed in great distress. David’s lament was so profound and deeply heartfelt Jesus quoted the opening words of this psalm on the cross.
No one was more dearly loved and blessed by God than David. David walked in amazing boldness. David won great victories through faith in God. The Lord’s hand was upon David all his life.
David received God’s love with thanksgiving. He acknowledged God’s blessing on his life. David gave God the glory for all he did. David served the Lord by serving God’s people.
Why is the man described as having a heart after God’s feeling forsaken? Why is David crying out as if God has removed His hand of blessing and protection?
David spent too much time looking into the mirror of his sin and failure. David saw his enemies crouching at his door. David viewed his relationship with God through the lens of his circumstances. David took his eyes of the Lord. He focused on his circumstances.
David was giving more validity to his feelings and emotions than God’s faithfulness!
David concluded this psalm by declaring God would answer his prayer and draw near to him. David declared he would give praise and honor to God. David said all the ends of the earth would remember and turn to his God.
David knew the goodness and mercy of God would prevail over his circumstances!
David did what a lot of us are doing today. We sulk in the circumstances of trials and hardships feeling as though God has forsaken us. We convince ourselves God has forgotten us. We act like victims when we should be walking in Jesus’ victory!
We give more validity to our feelings and emotions than the reality of God’s faithfulness!
We know the Lord will answer our prayers. We know Jesus will deliver us from our circumstances. But we choose to live under our circumstances rather than above them.
Our circumstances do not validate God’s faithfulness. God’s Word does. We are God’s beloved. Jesus will never forsake us. He will never forget us. Jesus will never leave us!
No one is more dearly loved and blessed by God than us. We may be frail and weak, but we can walk with the boldness of mighty lions. We can be victorious over our circumstances through faith in Jesus. God’s mighty hand is upon people who love and honor Jesus today!
Focus on the promised blessing rather than the present hardship!
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12 NKJV
When I was a teenager people would say, “If it feels good do it.” People all over the world are doing what feels good today.
I am going to make a confession. I hope you do not think less of me. If so you should look in the mirror. We are all tempted by sin in many ways.
Sometimes I feel like doing things I should not do. You can name the sin. I have more than likely felt like doing it at one time or another. I have committed some of those sins. It seemed right at the time.
God knows everything. The Lord knows your future. He knows your past. Jesus knows how you feel when you are tempted to sin.
When God tells us not to do something it is not because He is trying to assert His authority over us. The Lord has nothing to prove. When God tells us not to engage in immorality it is because He knows how harmful it really is.
God is not a cosmic party pooper. He is not trying to keep us from enjoying ourselves. The Lord wants us to enjoy our lives. Jesus wants us to have fun. Jesus wants to bless us. Jesus wants us to prosper in every way!
Jesus knows that we are tempted in many ways. Jesus knows we are tempted often. God wants us to know that temptation is not sin. Giving in to our fleshly desires is!
God divided time into days so each could be a new beginning for us. Jesus has already made a way of escape for you if you have fallen into the trap of thinking if it feels good you should do it.
God created us to live in a loving relationship with Him. We do not have to allow anything to come between us. If we trust Jesus instead of our feelings and emotions, we will be blessed beyond measure today and throughout eternity!
We can choose to live in a loving relationship with our God today! There is a way that seems right to a man. It leads to eternal separation from God. Obedience to the Lord leads to blessing and prosperity!
Obedience to God is not legalism. It is wisdom. Sin may be enjoyable for a season. It always leads to heartache and destruction!
Be a person of wisdom and prudence. Enjoy the amazing blessing of Almighty God in this life. Live with the Lord in blessed perfection throughout eternity!
Obedience is better than sacrifice. Wisdom is the greatest of virtues. Jesus freely gives it to those who ask for it. Ask Jesus for wisdom today!
Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to Him who thirsts.” Revelation 21:5-6 NKJV
They say you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make Him drink. That may be true, but God can make that horse thirsty!
In a vision the Apostle John saw a new heaven and a new earth. He saw the New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And John heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.”
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed
God is going to return creation to its original state of perfection. There will be no more strife struggling or conflict in His Holy City. The new Jerusalem will shine with the light of God’s love.
Jesus will gather His people together like a mother hen gathers her chicks. Jesus will live among us and rule over us in a relationship of perfect love. We will see God with our eyes, touch Him with our hands and hear His words with our ears!
Every remembrance of the sorrow struggle and sadness of this world will be wiped away. We will live forever without pain, regret, or turmoil. All things, including our bodies attitudes and perspectives will be made new and perfect!
The victory over sin and death was won when Jesus declared, “It is finished” and committed His Spirit into the Father’s hands. Our future was sealed when Jesus rose from the grave!
We cannot yet see the Lord’s victory over sin and death with our eyes. Strife turmoil sickness and death hang over the world like a dark cloud. Do not lose heart. Your faith in Jesus will bear eternal fruit when the Lord of glory arises with healing in His wings!
Water has been called the source of life. Jesus is the giver of life!
Jesus is the fountain of living water. He calls out to people whose souls and spirits are parched and dry. Jesus calls out to people who need to be refreshed and renewed. Jesus wants us to drink deep from the still waters of His love and peace!
Are you thirsty? Drink deep and fill your soul with living water!
Therefore, the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore, He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord God is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him. Isaiah 30:18 NKJV
God created us to live in a loving relationship with Him. All throughout the Old Testament God declares “I will be your God and you will be My people.” That is God’s will for us!
Jesus allows us the freedom to receive or reject His love. Each of us has the freedom to choose if we will spend eternity in the Lord’s presence or separated from Him. God will hold us accountable for the decision we make.
One day the deadline for accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will be upon us!
For now, God waits. He waits for people who will choose to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. God waits because He does not want anyone to perish!
All throughout the scriptures we are told to “Wait on the Lord.” What does it mean to wait on the Lord? It means trusting Jesus with our lives!
Waiting on the Lord means believing what God says, it means taking Him at His word. Waiting on the Lord means letting God be God because He is God!
We are saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is just the beginning. Jesus wants us to live by faith in Him today. He wants us to trust Him today!
Jesus wants our faith in Him to be greater than our trust in resources. He wants our reliance on Him to be greater than our reliance on strength and wisdom.
Jesus loves you. He is for you and not against you. You can trust Jesus with your life!
Try it for yourself. Taste of the Lord and see that God is good. Jesus will lead you and guide you in the direction you should go. Jesus will guide you in the way you should live!
Waiting implies action not passivity. God wants us to flex our faith muscles as we wait for Him. Jesus wants us took forward to the day of His return with great anticipation. Nothing can separate us from the promise of eternal life with Jesus!
That does not mean we should sit idly by waiting for the door into eternity to swing open. We can enjoy the presence of our great Lord and Savior Jesus Christ today. We can serve the Lord today right where we are with what we have. What do we have?
We have the promise of God’s grace poured out in Jesus Christ! Jesus will bless us with the opportunity to serve Him while we wait for Him!
Wait for the Lord to pour out His grace upon you. Jesus will shower you with His mercy. Everyone who waits for Jesus in faith will be blessed!
Thus, says the Lord: Heaven is My throne, And earth is my footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest? Isaiah 66:1 NKJV
I have heard people say God lives in one place or another. Some say life began on this planet when cosmic germs where deposited here from other places in the universe.
The popular theory among people who deny biblical doctrine is that a great explosion created the universe. Some people still believe mankind evolved from apes.
God created the heavens and the earth. The Lord created us in His image and likeness!
God does not need to lay His head down at night. He is not limited to one location at a time. God says heaven is His throne. The Earth is His footstool.
Imagine God sitting on His throne in heaven. His feet upon the earth. The Spirit of God fills every area of creation. God is everywhere all the time.
The bible does say there is one place where God chooses to take up residence. He chooses to dwell in the hearts of men and women who live by faith in Jesus Christ. God chooses to dwell with His people. Jesus chooses to live out His life in us and through us.
God loves all people. He does not want anyone to spend even one more day in bondage to sin. Jesus does not want anyone to spend one more day in bondage to unbelief!
Jesus is saving people today. He is bringing people back into His good and perfect will. Jesus is bringing people out of bondage to unbelief. Jesus is setting captives free.
Jesus is holding out His hand to you today. He is calling you to join Him in His work!
God can do great and mighty things in the lives of ordinary men and women. He can do great and mighty things in your life and with your life!
Will you call out to Jesus today? Will you ask the Lord to use you to share the message of life with people who are dead in trespasses and sins?
God does not expect you to do anything on your own. Jesus wants to set up His throne in your heart. Jesus wants to form His life in you and live out His life through you today!
The Lord’s throne is in the heavens. The earth is His footstool. The Spirit of God rests upon all people who choose to live for Jesus!
Will you give Jesus a place to take up residence today? Will you open your heart so Jesus can dwell in the innermost parts of your eternal soul?
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6 NKJV
David’s declaration of faith in God’s goodness reveals the desire of his heart.
God blessed David. That does not mean he did not struggle. His life was full of conflict. David made mistakes. He sinned. It was a measure of his faith that he never wavered in his belief that the goodness and mercy of God would follow him all the days of his life.
David did not judge the goodness and mercy of God by his circumstances. God is perfect and holy. Our circumstances do not affect Him in anyway shape or form. If our circumstances affected Jesus He could not rule over creation in perfect wisdom and justice.
Are you a born-again disciple of Jesus Christ? If so the goodness and mercy of God will follow you all the days of your life.
Do not judge God by your circumstances. Your circumstances do not affect God’s holiness and perfection. God loves you so much your sins failures and mistakes cannot separate you from His love and favor!
The things David wrote have been used in songs sermons prayers and poems for centuries. The description of David being a person after God’s own heart should encourage us in our faith.
David allowed God to give him His heart. David allowed the Lord to fill his mind with God’s wisdom and desires. Nothing could stop David from seeking after the Lord. His sins and failures did not keep David from desiring intimate relationship with God.
David never called himself a man after God’s own heart. God did. David never attributed God’s favor to anything he could do in his own strength and wisdom.
David attributed the Lord’s favor on his life to the goodness and mercy of God. The reality of God’s goodness and mercy is the reason David desired to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life!
We can have the desire to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of our lives! We can believe the goodness and mercy of God will follow us all the days of our lives!
Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus will give us what we need when we need it to serve Him. Give Jesus something to work with. Give Jesus your heart so He can fill your heart with faith in God!
Trust in the goodness and mercy of God. Set the desire of your heart on dwelling in the house of the Lord forever!
