Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:8 NKJV
People who trust Jesus know true happiness. Joy is a byproduct of faith in the One who is faithful!
A loved one has moved from a season of sinful living into a season of reaping the consequences of sin. He is in danger of losing his life. He has not repented. He has not turned back to God. He is holding on stubbornly to the path he has chosen.
My heartaches from a pain so deep and wide only Jesus can console me.
I am at my computer sharing my heart. What has Jesus put in my heart today? I have tasted that the Lord is good! I am blessed regardless of trials tribulations and circumstances! I am that man who trusts Jesus!
I have known pain and heartache. I persevere. Sometimes I feel like people I love have their turned their backs on me. Jesus has not abandoned me. He is with me today!
The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18
Is your heart broken? Turn to Jesus. Taste and see that He is good.
Is the weight of your sin following you around like a ball and chain? Put your trust in Jesus. He will bless you with newness of life!
The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned. Psalm 34:22
David praises God and exhorts others through his experience. He declares that people who trust God are blessed.
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. Psalm 34:1
This is our day to praise God and exhort other people through our experience!
Bless the Lord at all times. Let praises for Him come continually from your mouth. Boast in the goodness and mercy of God. Do it in the light of day so people who are humble of heart can hear and be glad.
I wrote these words during a season of incredible heartache and sorrow. Jesus intervened. My heart is full today. My cup runs over with joy and blessing. I need Jesus today just as much as I needed Him on my trudge through the valley of weeping and sorrow!
Let’s magnify the Lord and exalt His name together!
Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the Lord with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. Psalm 33:1-3 NKJV
Are you righteous? Are you beautiful? Like me you may not be comfortable referring to yourself as righteous. When you look in a mirror you may not see a vision of beauty smiling back at you.
Righteousness is not based on anything we do or don’t do. It is based on relationship with the God who is righteous. If you have received salvation through faith in Jesus you are righteous! You are a vision of beauty in God’s eyes!
I admire people who make beautiful sounds with their voices or musical instruments. It is an amazing gift.
I bought a harmonica. I practiced playing it. Playing that harmonica gave me great pleasure. We started attended a small church. They did not have a music ministry. The pastor asked if I would play my harmonica at an Easter service. I played while two sisters sang.
A short time later that little church started a worship team. My two sons and I were a part of the ministry. It was a season of serving God I will always hold on to. I believe my boys will as well.
You do not need a musical gift to worship Jesus. You do not need a harmonica or any other instrument. You do not even need music. You only need to stand in the righteousness of Jesus. Worship only requires a step of faith in the one who is righteous!
I planned my morning well so that I could maximize the time I have to get ready. The Lord had other plans. I stayed in bed praising God.
I did not play a musical instrument. I did not sing out loud. I praised God in the silence of my secret place. It is a place only Jesus knows. It is a place where the reality of my thoughts and desires take root. It is the place where righteousness and sin are born.
I chose righteousness through faith in Jesus. I sang a new song of faith to Jesus. I am in a season of serving God I will always hold on to!
Let Jesus usher you into a season of serving God you can hold on to when the winds of doubt and adversity blow!
Rejoice in the Lord. Fill your heart and mind with the reality of God. Let Jesus deposit His desires into your heart.
Choose righteousness. Clothe yourself in beauty. Sing a new song of faith to Jesus!
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye. Psalm 32:8 NKJV
My friend’s father liked to have a glass of water with his dinner. His father could drink down several glasses. My friend’s job was to keep the glass full until his father finished eating.
If my friend’s father wanted another drink he would just look at his empty glass without saying a word. My friend would get up from the table and fill his father’s glass.
Jesus said, “I can do only what I see the Father doing.”
Ministry is seeing what God is doing and joining Him in His work. It is doing what God wants us to do regardless of what that may be. We should only do what the Father does!
Over the years my wife and I have seen things other people could not see. We tried to tell other people what we could see but we might as well have been speaking another language. God opened our eyes because He wanted us to do something.
God the Father sent Jesus into the world to save people. Jesus is sending us out to serve them!
God does not call the prepared to serve Him. He prepares the called. We all know that. Do we see what Jesus is doing? Do we join Jesus in the work He is doing?
Jesus wants us to partner with Him. We may not be ready for the great and mighty things Jesus wants to do in us and through us. That is not a problem for the Lord. Jesus delights in doing great things with ordinary people like you and me!
Jesus is looking for people who want to learn His ways. He is looking for men and women who will surrender to His will. Jesus is looking for people who will let Him do great and mighty things in and ithrough their lives.
Jesus is looking for willing hearts not spiritual superstars. He is looking for people who know only God can save people. If you are willing to serve the Lord Jesus will prepare you. Jesus will open your eyes, unstop your ears and loosen your tongue!
If God is going to prepare us and do all the work what is our part? We must draw near to Jesus. Jesus wants us to have the type of relationship my friend had with his father. Jesus wants us to be so close to the Father He can guide us with His eye!
Jesus wants us to see people as He does. Jesus wants us to know what He is doing and join with Him as He restores broken hearts lives and families. Jesus wants us to watch Him raise people from eternal death unto eternal life!
Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24 NKJV
The commands, “Fear not” and “Be strong and courageous” appear many times in the bible. They both mean the same thing. God repeats Himself because we need to be reminded.
God is not telling us to be strong or courageous in our own strength. He is telling us we can be strong courageous and confident because Jesus is with us. We can be strong and courageous when we put our hope in Jesus.
These words were written many years ago. They were written for us. God knows the trials and hardships we face. He knows we will be fearful as we journey through life in a fallen world.
Jesus knows we will make mistakes. He knows some of our poor choices will put us in danger. Jesus wants us to live by faith in Him. Jesus will give us what we need when we need it to live for Him.
God created us to be more than conquerors through faith in Jesus. If we put our hope in His faithfulness we can never be defeated. If we take a stand for righteousness Jesus will give us the courage to glorify God.
If we trust Jesus we will never be disappointed. If we will believe His Hand is upon us He will strengthen our hearts. We can trust Jesus with our hopes dreams and desires because He loves us.
Ask Jesus to help you be courageous. Ask Him to strengthen your heart. Do not put your trust in worthless idols or ideas. Do not depend on your bank account or investments. No one or anything can guarantee your safety and future the way Jesus can!
Oh, love the Lord, all you His saints! For the Lord preserves the faithful, And fully repays the proud person. Vs 23
David was confident in God. He looked to the Lord for help. He stayed faithful to God regardless of his circumstance. That is what made him a man after God’s heart.
Jesus wants you to be confident in Him today. He wants you to look to Him for help protection and deliverance today. Stay faithful to Jesus regardless of your sins and mistakes. Trust Jesus when you experience trials and hardship!
Love the Lord with all your heart soul and strength. Jesus preserves the faithful. Be one of them. Jesus repays the proud and arrogant. Do not mimic them.
Walk in obedience to Almighty God by being strong and courageous through faith in Jesus Christ!
Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in trouble; My eye wastes away with grief, Yes, my soul and my body! For my life is spent with grief, Andy my years with sighing; My strength fails because of my iniquity, And my bones waste away. Psalm 31:9-10 NKJV
A beautiful girl loved me when I was a young. I made a good living most of my life. Things always seemed to turn out well for me. I suffered years of trial hardship and heartache as well.
Some of the most difficult trails came into my life after I surrendered my heart to Jesus Christ!
The Lord has always been faithful. He kept His promise never to leave me or forsake me. He delivered me from trials and hardships in amazing ways. He allowed me to experience hardship and heart ache as well.
God allowed me to suffer the consequences for my foolish sins mistakes and failures. My years of walking with the Lord have been anything but easy.
God is not just faithful to deliver us from trials and hardships. He is faithful to deliver us into difficult circumstances as well. The Lord tests us so we will have a testimony to share with other hurting people.
An athlete spends considerable time training and preparing before stepping on the field to compete. The military teaches the more you sweat in training the less likely you are to bleed in battle.
God brings hardships and trials into our lives to prepare us for spiritual warfare!
Spiritual warfare is not hunting down monsters with crosses and silver bullets. It is not binding evil spirits or casting out demons. Spiritual warfare is trusting Jesus enough to step out in faith. Spiritual warfare is obeying the Word of God when our feelings and emotions pull us in other directions. It is following Jesus instead of the pattern of the world!
Spiritual warfare is living according to God’s will for our lives. It is standing up and declaring the truth of God. Spiritual warfare is serving God in the power strength and wisdom of the Holy Spirit!
God leads us into trials and hardship. He delivers us through trials and hardship. He delivers us from trials and hardships. Jesus gives us what we need when we need it because He knows exactly what we need and when we need it!
Trust Jesus with your circumstances. Trust Him to use the trials and hardships you face for His glory and honor. Trust the Lord to use your testimony of His goodness and mercy to encourage hurting people. Trust Jesus to lead you and guide you into spiritual battle!
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness. Psalm 30:11 NKJV
God will pour out His wrath on the ungodly. He will punish the wicked. That is not the Lord’s desire. He is not a God who allows people to suffer needlessly. The Lord is not a God who sits idly by while His people cry out for mercy and grace.
God will not spoil His beloved children. He will allow trials and hardship into our lives to strengthen us build up our character and faith.
God created the heavens and the earth. The Lord also created hell. Anyone who goes to hell will have to step over the shed blood of Jesus Christ to get there!
Jesus is a God of love and of blessing. God wants all people to enter into a saving relationship with Jesus. God’s greatest desire is to pour out His love upon us. He wants us to love Him above all other people places and things.
If you are mourning the loss of a loved one your season of weeping will not last. Jesus will not leave you in your sorrow. He will deliver you. Jesus will replace your sadness and sorrow with unbridled joy and never-ending blessing.
People who walk by faith in Jesus will see the day when His perfect love and justice will prevail over sin and death.
If you have not yet entered into a relationship of faith with Jesus you can do it today!
You have an opportunity to meet the lover of your soul today. You can choose for yourself where you will spend eternity.
Jesus is inviting you into a loving relationship that will lead to eternal blessing and joy. He will do all the work. You must take the first step. Cry out to the Lord. Ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you. Ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior today!
If you have questions or need help turn to your Christian family members, friends or neighbors. Don’t wait. Cry out to God today. Ask Jesus to turn your mourning into dancing and replace your sackcloth with robes of gladness!
Jesus will lead you through the perils and pitfalls of life on a fallen planet. He will lead you and guide into His presence where there is fullness of joy. Jesus will lead you and guide you in the way you should go today.
Lean into Jesus when you are heavy laden with heartache. Only Jesus can turn your mourning into dancing and replace the sackcloth of your sorrow with garments of gladness!
The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace. Psalm 29:11 NKJV
Today is a new day. Yesterday is done and gone. Tomorrow is only a possibility. All that it may or may not bring is in the hands of Almighty God.
Jesus died on a Cross so sin would not have power over us. How can sin have power over us? If you have had an addiction you already understand the power of sin. It starts as a choice. It becomes an obsession.
Sin takes control. We become locked into a vicious cycle of sin shame and guilt. It robs us of our time energy and resources. It strips us of joy and peace. It destroys relationships. Sin leads to loss of freedom and death!
Are you struggling with sin? God wants to set you free. He has already made a way of escape for you. You must partner with Him. You must take some practical steps to receive freedom from bondage to sin.
Call out to Jesus from the depths of your soul. Ask the Lord to set you free. Do not practice the sin that has put you into bondage today. Yesterday is gone. It is over and done with. You cannot change it. Tomorrow belongs to Jesus. Trust Him with it.
Sin is anything that separates us from Jesus. It separates us from His call on our lives.
God separated time into days so each could be a new beginning for us. Today is your day to step out in faith. You will not be alone. Jesus will be with you. He will give you the strength you need to accomplish His purpose for your life.
Paul said; one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Paul was a legalist a blasphemer and a murderer. The grace of God transformed him into an Apostle an Evangelist and a Missionary. Paul turned his back on his sins failures and mistakes. Paul surrendered to God’s will for his life. He served Jesus wholeheartedly!
Sin does offer a “payoff” or “reward.” The consequences come later. They last much longer than the “payoff” and far outweigh the “reward.”
The passing pleasures of sin pale in comparison to the eternal rewards God has in store for people who love Him and are called according to His purposes!
God has a plan and a purpose for you. Step out in faith. Trust Jesus to give you the strength to live according to His will for your life and the wisdom to live a life of peace and prosperity of spirit!
Blessed be the Lord, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications! The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him. Psalm 28:6-7 NKJV
David rejoices in answered prayer.
This psalm begins; To You I will cry, O Lord my Rock; Do not be silent to me, Lest, if You are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to You, When I lift-up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.
Do men cry? Does crying make a man weak or less masculine?
Crying doesn’t make us weaker or less masculine. What matters most is who a man turns to when his heart is sick and sad. Who should a man turn to when his soul needs to be lifted-up and recharged? David answers that question for us.
David never lifted-up his voice hands or heart to an idol. He turned to God when he needed help. God answered his prayers. The Lord was his strength when he was weak. God was a shield about him when he needed protection.
David was strong and courageous because he knew God was with him. The reality of God’s faithfulness filled his heart and came out in beautiful melodies of praise and prayer!
I shed buckets of tears on my journey through the valley of weeping. What did I learn?
I learned to cry out to Jesus when my heart is sick and sad. Jesus can lift me up when I am downtrodden. He can recharge my soul when it is drained. Other things I can put my trust in are worthless idols. I learned that God answers when I call out to Him!
My wife and I walked through the valley of weeping and mourning. Today we are frolicking on the sands of God’s faithfulness. Jesus set us up in a high place overlooking the seas of His grace and mercy. God loves us more than the grains of sand on the seashore.
Jesus was our strength when we were weak. He was a shield about us when we needed protection. We trusted the Lord. He helped us. Our hearts are rejoicing. Jesus filled our hearts with lovely praise songs and beautiful melodies of worship!
Are you trudging through the valley of weeping and mourning? Cry out to Jesus. Do not fill your heart with worthless things. They are for people who have no hope.
You have Jesus. He is with you. Jesus will be your strength when you are weak. He will be a shield about you when you need protection. Trust Jesus. He will help you!
Lift-up your hands to Jesus. Sing your song of love and praise to Almighty God!
Wait on the Lord; Be of Good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord! Psalm 27:14 NKJV
Jesus knows your every thought. He knows your needs. He knows your desires. The Lord of Heaven and Earth is in total control of His creation!
We have been taught to believe living successfully requires action. We have to strike while the iron is hot. We must take the bull by the horns. The most effective action we can take is to trust Jesus. Turn to Jesus in prayer. Believe Jesus will answer your prayer!
God tells us twice wait on the Lord twice in this verse. He also says, Be of Good Courage. These are some of the most common commands given to us. We see these phrases all throughout the bible, why?
It is important that we learn to wait for God. One of the most common mistakes people make is not waiting for Jesus to move on our behalf. It takes faith to wait for Jesus!
Faith is an action word. Faith is not a lack of activity. It takes courage to act in faith. It takes courage to believe Jesus is actively working on your behalf when we cannot see the results of what He is doing!
God is a rewarded of people who diligently seek Him. If we learn to wait on Jesus He will strengthen our hearts. Jesus will give us even more courage, boldness and faith to trust Him with!
Faith is like a muscle. It grows stronger with exercise and weaker with inactivity. Wait on the Lord today. Be of Good Courage today. If you trust Jesus He will strengthen your heart!
You are the beloved child of the King of Creation. God created you in His image and likeness. Jesus created you to represent Him on the Earth. Jesus created you to be about His Father’s business today!
Jesus wait you to wait on Him today. He wants you to be strong and courageous. The Lord wants you to strengthen your heart. Follow His instructions. Obey His commands.
If you follow the Lord’s commands and instructions Jesus will give you what you need when you need it so you can wait for Him with a courageous heart!
Work on building up your faith muscle while Jesus works on your heart!
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13 NKJV
David makes an exuberant declaration of his faith in God!
David’s heart was full of the grace of God. God’s love transformed David into the man with a heart after God’s. The Lord uses the Psalms to share the things He put into David’s heart with us.
This is the day for me to make an exuberant declaration of my faith in Jesus. God’s grace sustained me during trials and heartache. The mercy of God delivered me from sin sorrow and shame.
God has had me on an incredible journey. It has not been easy. It has been beautiful. God allowed trials and hardship into my life. He allowed me to suffer the consequences of my sins and mistakes. Jesus humbled me.
I would have abandoned my faith if I had not believed one day I would stand in the presence of my Lord and Savior.
I am thankful for every trial God allowed into my life. I am thankful He allowed me to suffer the consequences of my sins failures and mistakes. I know Jesus will use every trial and hardship I endure for His glory and my good.
Jesus sustained me by the power of His transforming grace. Jesus is molding me and shaping me into the man He created me to be. God has a plan and a purpose for my life!
I do not know what tomorrow will bring. I do not know where my journey will take me. I do know where it will end. I will dwell in God’s presence for all time. I will receive incorruptible blessings that I cannot even comprehend today!
Your journey down the path God has chosen for you will include trials and hardship. You may suffer seasons of sorrow and shame. God loves you. He has a plan and a purpose for your life. Jesus will use everything He allows into your life for His glory and your good.
Jesus will mold you and shape you into the person He created you to be. He will sustain you by the power of His transforming grace. I do not know where your journey with Jesus will lead you. I do know you will spend eternity in God’s presence if you trust Him with your life today!
Do not lose heart. Make an exuberant declaration of your faith in Jesus. You will see the goodness of God in the land of the living with your own eyes!
Allow Jesus to form His heart in you!
