And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the Lord has said, Among the remnant whom the Lord calls. Joel 2:32 NKJV
God will pour out His Spirit on His sons and daughters, old men, and young men. He will pour out His Spirit on those who serve others. God will pour out His Spirit on the humble of heart. God will pour out His Spirit so the name of Jesus can be high and lifted-up!
God is going to deliver people from bondage to unbelief. He is going to free people from bondage to sin. The people God created in His image and likeness are important to the Lord. God wants everyone to be saved because He loves us!
Jesus is going to bring revival in the days leading up to His return. Jesus is going to snatch people out of the hands of His enemy! We are going to be surprised at some of the people who get saved in those last days. We are going to be amazed at some of the people God uses to reach the lost, the lonely, and the brokenhearted people of this fallen world.
We are going to be astounded by the great and might works God is going to do in the lives of men and women who live by faith in Jesus Christ in the last days before His return!
There will also be many of people who harden their hearts against Jesus in the last days. They will refuse to humble themselves before Jesus. Some will even lead others away from Christ. They will lead people into the bondage of unbelief and false religion.
Jesus is calling you to be a willing and useful vessel for His glory and so others can be saved.
Pray for Jesus to spark revival in your heart. Ask Jesus to use you to lead people out of bondage into the promised land of eternal life. Ask Jesus to give you the boldness to share truth with the lost the lonely and the brokenhearted of our world!
Ask Jesus to give you the humility to live in obedience to Him. Ask the Lord to open your spiritual eyes so you can see the open doors Jesus sets before you. Ask Jesus to give you the compassion to reach out to people in love. Jesus will use the humble of heart and poor in spirit to serve Him. He will raise up the most unlikely servants to declare Jesus to a lost world. He will open prison doors and send people who were in bondage to preach freedom in Christ. Will you be one of them?
These are the last days before Jesus returns. These things are happening right now. Are you serving Jesus? It is not to late! Do what you can with what you have right where you are for the glory of God!
Blessed is the man, who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so But are like chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish. Psalms 1 NKJV
When God speaks of the ungodly, sinners, the scornful, who is He talking about?
God is talking about people who do not know Jesus. People who refuse to humble themselves before Him. People who think they do not need Jesus. The Lord is referring to people who look for answers to the issues of life in places other than the Word of God.
In God’s eyes an evil person is one who leads others away from Christ!
The blessed man looks to Jesus for answers to His questions. The woman who is blessed knows God gave us His written Word for a reason. Godly people understand that the Lord gave us the bible to guide us through the perils and pitfalls of life in a fallen world.
We live in a world that is led by people who oppose God. They look for ways to explain our existence and purpose that do not include Jesus. They want us to follow them.
The theory of evolution was not discovered by Charles Darwin. It was invented by him. He deliberately set out to disprove the existence of God. He was searching for a way to prove God did not create the world and the creatures who live upon it.
Jesus wants us to know why He created us. Jesus wants us to know how much He loves us. Jesus wants us to enjoy meaningful lives that will impact the people of our world. Jesus wants to bless us throughout eternity.
God provided the answers to our questions in His written revelation to His beloved!
Seek truth where it may be found. Seek the One who is Truth. Set your heart and mind to know the Word of God. Seek Jesus with all your heart and mind!
Spend time with Jesus today. Jesus holds life wisdom and joy everlasting in His right hand. His heart is full of love for you!
The Ancient of Ages wants to guide your steps. The Lord wants you to plant your feet firmly upon His Word so you can see afar off into the horizon. Jesus wants your heart to be at perfect peace even as the ground shakes and quakes all around you.
The wisdom of the ages is available today. Call out to Jesus. He will answer you!
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3 NKJV
Men who do not take the advice of ungodly people will be blessed. Women who do not imitate sinners will receive the grace of God. People who do not join in with those who scoff and scorn at the things of God will experience the abundant life.
Sin is progressive. When we imitate sinful people we become sinners. A person who has experienced the grace of God should never fall under the influence of ungodly people. When we give ourselves over to sin it influences every area of our lives. Sinful living will eventually result in loss and heartache. The first and most devastating consequence of sin is the damage and separation it brings to our relationships. Sin separates us from God and the people we love!
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We should not look down on people who are in bondage to sin. We should come along side to love and pray for everyone! God never gives up on us. Jesus can breathe healing and restoration into our lives when we incline our hearts to Him. Jesus can use us regardless of the things we have done when we surrender our hearts and our lives to Him.
God can put humpty dumpty back together again. That does not mean we will not suffer the consequences of our sins past present and future!
A man who meditates on the Word of God will grow and flourish like a tree planted next to a river. A woman who obeys the Word of God will be like a tree that bears delicious fruit. People who obey the Word of God will bear fruits of righteousness for Jesus! Jesus uses people who set their hearts on Him to share His love with people and lead lost souls to salvation.
God is drawing a clear line in the sand for us. The Lord explains the difference in the lives of people who take advice from, associate with, and agree with people who are in bondage to sin and people who surrender their hearts and lives to Jesus!
Do not take advice from ungodly people. Do not be influenced by people who glorify sin. Fruits of righteousness are produced by people who find their righteousness in Jesus. Trust Jesus to fill your life with fruits of righteousness so He can love lost, lonely, and brokenhearted people through you!
Obey God’s Word so Jesus can plant you next to the river of life. Jesus wants you to produce fruits of righteousness so the people around you can be blessed forever!
Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease! Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away like an eagle toward heaven. Proverbs 23:4-5 NKJV
Sometimes God puts his finger on areas of our lives that need attention. Jesus confirms things he has already shown us. Jesus still speaks to people who listen for His voice!
I started working at a young age. I became a workaholic. I showed up to work early and left late. I was driven to work as hard and fast as I could. I focused on my career and neglected my family. I relied on my own strength and abilities instead of trusting God.
Jesus does not want us to be so caught up with the fast pace of living we cannot enjoy our lives. Jesus wants us to invest our time talents and treasure in loving relationships.
God does want us to be responsible. He wants us to value hard work. More than anything God wants us to trust Him to meet our needs. The Lord wants us to know our security comes from living in relationship with Jesus.
Money comes and money goes. The value of real estate is a good example. Home values skyrocketed and plunged several times in my adult life. Would you set your heart on something that is here today and gone tomorrow? Many people are doing that right now.
The scripture says riches make themselves wings. They fly away like an eagle towards heaven. When those riches fly away they leave behind heart ache and a stack of bills.
The book of Proverbs is a blessing to people who obey the Word of God and a warning to people who do not. The Lord put His finger on an area of my life that needed attention so that I would not return to a lifestyle of chasing after the wind.
There is nothing wrong with making a lot of money if we use it to glorify God and bless people. The children of Israel plundered the Egyptians when God delivered them. They left with as much gold and silver as they could carry. Much of it went to build the tabernacle in the wilderness.
Jesus used these verses of scripture to confirm a decision I have made. With all my heart I want to serve Jesus! I want to give my time treasure and talent to Jesus!
Jesus took away the desire to make more money than I need. I like giving nice things to my wife and children. Those things will fade from our memories long before the joy of our time together. We will carry the love we share with each other into eternity!
Our God loves us. He will give us what we need when we need it. The Lord wants us to set our hearts on the one who can satisfy our souls today and throughout eternity.
Trust Jesus to put His finger on an area of your life that needs attention today!
A man’s steps are of the Lord; How then can a man understand his own way? Proverbs 20:24 NKJV
My life has taken many twists and turns. I was a food distributor. I served in the Marines. I was a route salesman. My wife and I were professional clowns. I was a real estate broker. I even worked as a substance abuse counselor in a state prison.
I considered myself a missionary. My desire was to serve God. Jesus used me. It was exciting. In time the excitement wore off. I often left feeling like I could not continue working in that environment. I applied for other jobs while working at that prison.
Employment is only one area of my life that has not turned out the way I thought it would. It seems as if there is an invisible hand leading me and directing me along a path I would never have chosen for myself! From the beginning of my walk of faith I asked the Lord not to leave me to myself. I prayed daily and asked the Lord to have His way with my life.
It is Jesus who is leading me and guiding me in the way I should go today!
My greatest desire is to serve Jesus in whatever way the Lord calls me to serve Him. There was a time when serving Jesus meant standing in a room full of convicted felons. Most of them repeat offenders and gang members. On the way to work I prayed. I asked Jesus to be with me. I asked the Lord to give me what I needed when I needed it.
Jesus answered my prayer. He encouraged me when I needed encouragement. Jesus was at work in my classroom when I explained to the inmates they had believed a lie. The Lord opened their understanding when I told them they need to feed their minds on truth even when it hurts to hear it.
My wife and I sold books based on this devotional at church. In my wildest dreams I never thought I would become a published author. The title of the book is Joyfor2day The Battle is the Lord’s. I share my walk of faith in Jesus Christ in the book.
The true author of the book is Jesus. Jesus is the author of my faith. He orders my steps. Jesus leads me and guides me in ways I do not always understand. My life is not my own!
Your life is not your own! It is the Lord of Heaven and Earth who orders your steps today. Trust Jesus to lead you and guide you along the path He has chosen for you. Trust Jesus even when you do not understand where He is taking you!

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Romans 12:9-13 NKJV
God tells us to behave like Christians!
The Lord tells us to let love be without hypocrisy. None of us wakes up in the morning thinking about being a hypocrite. It does happen.
We could go to church, worship God, enjoy being in His presence and spending time with His people. We could leave church and go about our day. A thought could come to mind. Temptation could cross our path.
Just for a second we consider giving in to the temptation. We imagine what it would be like to.…It is the first steps we take when we are tempted to sin that determine if we give in to it or resist it.
God wants us to hate evil. If we are not convinced in our own minds what God calls sin is destructive we will give in to it. God wants us to grab hold of what He calls good because He determines the difference between good and evil.
God is telling us to be affectionate and give each other preference. The Lord expects His people to be nice to each other. You do not have to be a Pastor Priest or Theologian to figure that out. It is not always so easy to do.
God does not say be nice to the people you like. He does not say be nice to the people who like you. He does not say be nice to the people who look like you and act like you. The Lord tells us to be kind and affectionate to one another. That means all people.
Jesus said the world will know us by our love for each other. Nobody is going to believe we love each other if we cannot treat each other with kindness and affection. God tells us to be diligent. We should not be lazy about the way we treat each other.
It is not easy to be kind and affectionate with some people. God says to be fervent in spirit. Go to the Lord. Be honest with Jesus. Ask Him to help you with people you find difficult. When you are kind and affectionate with God’s people you are serving Jesus!
God wants us to open our homes to each other and help each other when we are in need. Our faith is practical and down to earth. So many of the things God requires of us are not difficult to understand. Common sense is a true form of wisdom!
Share God’s love by being kind and affectionate with people today and every day!
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
Romans 12:6-8 NKJV
Do you know what your spiritual gifts are? God gave you spiritual gifts so you can glorify Him and bless His people. God gives us spiritual gifts so we can serve Him and His people. They are gifts. We did not do anything to earn them. Jesus expects us to use them!
I have the gift of generous giving. It gives me pleasure to meet people’s needs by allowing God to use me. I am not a humanitarian. It is a spiritual gift. God gave it to me.
God blesses people with resources so He can help the needy and demonstrate His love for us. When God blesses people financially He expects them to use His resources for His purposes and glory. The glory is God’s not ours.
Our Lord owns the cattle on a thousand hills. All the silver gold and money in the world is His. Jesus can do whatever He chooses with it.
The amazing thing is I have limited resources. That does not change anything. God gave me the gift of charitable giving. He is in the process of building and developing that Gift within me. I am in process. God is transforming degree by degree day by day.
I do not consider my lack of resources something that hinders the work Jesus is going to accomplish in me and through me. The Lord created me to be a generous giver. I am a generous giver!
The Lord is not hindered by my circumstances. He uses them. I have been in the position of making more money in one month than most people make in a year. I know what it is like to have plenty.
I also know what it is like to have nothing. Jesus is teaching me and training me to use the gift He gave me wisely. The Lord is teaching me to use it in His strength and wisdom. Jesus is teaching me to see with spiritual eyes rather than physical eyes.
Jesus is in the same process in your life. The Lord is teaching you to use the spiritual gifts He gave you in His strength and wisdom. Jesus is teaching you to see with spiritual eyes rather than your physical eyes!
God calls things as they are before they spring forth. The Lord wants us to learn to do the same. Jesus wants us to have faith in Him to accomplish His purpose even though we do not yet see the result of what He is doing among us today!
Jesus wants us to use our spiritual gifts according to the grace that has been given to us by Him! Do something you have never done before for the glory of God!
As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man. Proverbs 27:19 NKJV
The heart is mentioned over 900 times in the New King James bible translation.
The scriptures teach that God sees straight into our hearts. God judges the intentions of our hearts. The Lord holds us accountable for what is in our hearts.
The things that are in our hearts reveal who we really are. The condition of our heart reveals where we are in our relationship with Jesus.
We can hide our true intentions from each other.
We can say something with our mouth that is contrary to what is in our hearts. We cannot hide what is in our hearts from the Lord. God is always dealing with our hearts. Jesus wants to transform our hearts. Jesus wants to renew our hearts.
Jesus wants us to love Him with all our heart!
What is in our hearts is important to Jesus. He knows what is in our hearts will influence every area of our lives. Jesus knows what is hidden in our hearts will eventually be exposed to the light of day.
There was a time when I hired and trained salespeople. I taught them not to pretend to be someone or something they are not. It is too difficult. A person’s true character and personality will eventually be exposed.
God sees straight into our hearts today. He knows what is hidden in our hearts today!
If you have the desire to seek Jesus you will find Him. If you have the desire to know Jesus He will reveal Himself to you. It does not matter where you are today or what you have done in the past Jesus will grant the desires of you heart if you set your heart on Him!
If the desire of your heart is to be set free from bondage to sin God will set you free. If the desire of your heart is to be set free from bondage to unbelief He will set you free.
Set your heart on freedom today.
If you desire to know truth call out to the one who is truth. Call out to Jesus from the depths of your heart. Jesus will hear the cry of your heart!
Ask God to give you the strength and wisdom to turn from sin to faith in Jesus Christ. Ask Jesus to put a desire in your heart to live with Him and for Him. Ask Jesus to help you trust Him with your life.
Ask Jesus to fill the depths of your heart with His love!
A man’s gift makes room for him And brings him before great men. Proverbs 18:16 NKJV
My family and I started attending a new church. The Pastor and I became friends. Our wives also became friends. My friend quoted this verse to me one day. He wanted me to know God reveals a person’s spiritual gifts and how we should serve the Body of Christ!
We should all serve God by serving His people. When we step out in faith we should not step out ahead of the Holy Spirit. I have seen people who are so anxious to serve it causes division in the Body of Christ instead of brining glory to God!
If God has a purpose and a plan for you that includes full time ministry wait for Him. If God has given you a vision for leading, teaching or serving in a specific way He will open the doors in His perfect time.
God knows the plans He has in store for you. The Lord is more than capable of accomplishing His good and perfect plan for your life. Jesus does not need your help. Jesus is God! You are His servant!
I am the type of person that jumps in with both feet. I dive into tasks with gusto. There is not a lukewarm bone in my body. I am either hot or cold. The Lord gave me the gift of enthusiasm. Every gift God gives us has a flip side to it.
I get excited very easily therefore I can look before I leap. I can jump into something without fully considering the end of the matter. I run either hot or cold therefore when I am not hot I can be very cold.
The way for us to avoid stepping out ahead of the Holy Spirit is to turn to God for guidance. We should seek the Lord before we jump in with both feet. God is more than able to show us how and when He wants us to step out in faith.
God gave you gifts and talents that are unique and special. Jesus wants you to use your gifts and talents to bless His people. Jesus wants you to use them to serve His people!
You will be blessed when you use your gifts according to God’s perfect will!
My friend encouraged me to keep sending out these messages. He encouraged me to share the Word of God with people. My former pastor encouraged me to share the things God was doing in my life with other people. God is still enabling me to speak for Him!
God will reveal gifts and talents you did not even know He has given you! He will reveal them in His perfect time!
Wait for the Lord. Trust God to give you your marching orders. When you do receive your marching orders jump right in with both feet. Serve Jesus with the gifts and talents God entrusted to you!
Do not say, “I will recompense evil”. Wait for the Lord and He will save you. Proverbs 20:22 NKJV
People will commit all manner of evil acts against us. That is the nature of the world today. We live in a fallen world among people with a sinful nature.
Jesus does not want us to return evil for evil. Jesus wants us to turn to Him for everything!
Jesus wants us to bring everything to Him in prayer. Our Heavenly Father wants us to trust Him with every circumstance of our lives. That means trusting Jesus to deal with every wrongful act committed against us.
That does not make very much sense does it? Shouldn’t we respond to force with equal or greater force? Shouldn’t we find a way to get even when someone harms us?
If we let people walk all over us they might take it as a sign of weakness? People might see our weakness as an opportunity to take advantage of us right? Maybe!
Jesus does not want us to live according to our own understanding. Jesus wants us to live by faith in Him. Jesus wants us to live out our lives with an eternal perspective. Jesus wants us to trust Him enough to obey Him!
Waiting for the Lord to act on our behalf in faith is not a sign of weakness! God is in total control of all things! Every aspect of creation is subject to the Lord’s authority!
Do not react in anger when people harm you. Trust Jesus to avenge you. Trust Jesus to make your enemies be at peace with you. Trust Jesus to bring you and your enemies together in love.
How can I refrain from retaliating when someone harms my family?
God is not asking us to muster up enough faith to be obedient. He is not asking us to figure out how we can obey his commands.
Jesus is telling us to wait for Him to bring about justice in our lives. He is asking us to trust Him with the difficult circumstances that are caused by people who harm us!
I can trust Jesus because He is trustworthy. You can trust Jesus because He is trustworthy. We can trust God with each, and every offense and wrongful act committed against us because He loves us!
Trust Jesus enough to believe every word that proceeds from the mouth of God and you will experience true joy forever!
Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week
