The name of the Lord is a strong tower, The righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10 NKJV
Who can be righteous today? What determines if a person is righteous or not?
God created the universe. He sets the standards for righteousness. What is the definition of righteousness? The best definition I have ever heard is right standing with God.
God is just. He is Holy. Every person who has ever lived must be judged by the same standards. God does not use the Ten Commands to determine righteousness. Our Lord does not grade on a scale of 1 to 10 to determine if a person is righteous or not.
God’s standard for righteousness is faith in His Son. It is impossible to please God or live up to the standards of a righteous God without faith in Jesus!
If you have been born again through faith in Jesus Christ you are a righteous person!
A strong tower is a place of safety. The name of the Lord is a place of safety for born again believers. What does that mean? There is power in the name of Jesus. One day every knee will bend in submission and every head will bow at the name of Jesus Christ!
The name of the Lord is not magic. Using the Lord’s name does not grant us special powers or abilities. We cannot create or destroy by using the God’s name. When we serve Jesus, we represent Him. We carry the authority of Jesus’ mighty name.
Does that mean we can never be hurt while serving God? Does it mean we will always be successful in every circumstance or trial we face? No, it does not. Jesus wants us to have an eternal perspective on life. We are eternal beings. We serve an eternal God.
God is mighty on behalf of His people. His power and authority are absolute. No one or anything can oppose God’s will or prosper in opposition to Jesus.
Our God is mighty to save. He will save us from anything that is not within His will for our lives. We will live in His blessing and under His protection for all time if we live by faith in Jesus today!
Are you slogging through trials and trauma? Is your faith being tested by the uncertainty of life in a fallen world? Are you lonely or brokenhearted? The name of the Lord is a strong tower. Run to Jesus today!
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22 NIV
A good word spoken at a critical moment can make a difference in someone’s life. The bible says our words carry the power of life and death. With our tongues we can bless and curse. God can do great and mighty things when He speaks into a person’s life.
People who have the gift of encouragement are blessed. Encouragement is greatly needed in the Body of Christ. You do not need to have that gift to speak encouraging words. You can encourage someone who desperately needs encouragement today!
My job as a substance abuse counselor in a state prison was not what you might expect. I did teach substance abuse education. I counseled inmates. Many of the men I worked with were mandated to attend the program. Most of them wanted nothing to do with it.
Some days I spent more time trying to get them to focus up than I did teaching. One inmate gave me a hard time day after day. The Lord showed me he was raised in a Christian home. His mother prayed for him faithfully every day.
I asked him if he was raised in a Christian home. His face broke out into a big smile. His behavior changed dramatically. Instead of cross talking with the other inmates he started participating. He even stood up and read a poem he wrote.
I did not hear the Lord’s voice that morning. The earth did not shake. Lightning did not flash from the sky. I was not visited by an angel who told me to speak to the man. God spoke to me through my thoughts. There was room for doubt and uncertainty.
I was uncomfortable speaking to a reputed gang leader. I did not step out in faith because I am bold and courageous. Not because I am a spiritual superhero or halo head. I did it because I have learned that sometimes my thoughts are not my own.
I stepped out in faith because I serve a mighty God who is calling me to join Him in His ministry!
Jesus wants to encourage you today. Jesus wants you to join Him in ministry today. Jesus is calling you to step out in faith and encourage the people around you. Jesus wants you to encourage people with His love!
Sometimes we need to say difficult things to people. When we confront rebuke and correct people we can do it in a way that encourages and does not crush the spirit.
I love you enough to step out in faith and declare the Word of God to you today.
Jesus loves you enough to encourage you with His love every day!
The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the Lord. Proverbs 16:33 NKJV
The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the hearts. Proverbs 17:3 NKJV
I am overwhelmed and overcome by the circumstances of my life at times. Sometimes my life is defined more by trials struggles and hardship than anything else.
God is good. He is merciful. Jesus is the God of new beginnings. Jesus rescues us from our sins, failures, and mistakes. That does not mean our lives will be without hardship!
Life is hard. It is not fair. When we expect life to be fair we set ourselves up for disappointment and frustration. God is compassionate. He is longsuffering. Jesus gives us what we need when we need it.
We will receive justice and mercy. We can receive the greatest of God’s gifts today, love!
How I can continue to carry on with all the responsibility the Lord has placed in my lap. How can I do all the things God requires of me. I cannot. I can remind myself nothing happens in my life that God has not allowed. I can remember God loves me!
God promises to meet all our needs today. He promises not to allow more hardship than we can endure. The Lord promises never to leave us to ourselves or to deal with the struggles we face alone. I can remind myself God always keeps His promises!
Jesus spoke to me about His plans for my life. The Lord said He would use me to spread His message to the world. God said He would enable me to speak for Him. Jesus said I would minister before Him. God said He would use me to set people free.
The Lord also told me I would have to go through fire!
In my time of struggle hardship and despair I remind myself God does not call the prepared He prepares the called. The Lord must mold us and shape us into the people He created us to be before He sends us out to preach the message of salvation!
The trials and hardships you suffer have not happened by random chance or accident. God is molding you and shaping you into the mighty warrior He created you to be. God is preparing you for the work He wants to accomplish in your life and through your service to Jesus!
Trust Jesus with the circumstances of your life. Trust Jesus to polish and refine you so you can reflect His character to the world!
He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. Proverbs 16:32 NKJV
The bible is God’s written revelation to mankind. The bible reveals God’s character. The bible is a spiritual book that reveals spiritual things.
God never intended for us to be halo heads. The Lord does not want us to be so heavenly minded we are no earthly good to Him ourselves or other people. The bible is also a very practical down to earth instruction manual for right living.
The Lord says he who is slow to anger is better than the mighty. Our emotions do not have intellect. Our emotions do not think or react logically. God did not tell us not to get angry. He tells us to be slow to anger because we tend to overreact when we are angry.
The anger of man does not bring about the righteousness of God. There is much going on in the world we should be angry about. Overreacting to circumstances and situations that make us angry does not make them better. It makes them worse.
How can a man who is slow to anger be better than a man who is mighty?
A person who is quick to anger is unstable. An angry person is unable to think clearly. An angry person is more likely to do something and be sorry for it later. The inability to control anger can be a stronghold just like drug addiction alcoholism or immorality.
We all have selfish desires. We have the capacity for acts of great good or evil. If we fall into the trap of expressing our anger at other people we have already been deceived.
The Lord wants us to bring everything to Him in prayer. If we have a problem with anger we should turn to Him. Jesus gives us everything we need to live a life of Godliness.
The Word of God says, “Be still and know that I am God.” When we are angry we should be still (do not act out in anger) and turn to God. We should allow God to be God because He is God. Taking our anger to Him so He can deal with it is an appropriate expression of anger.
What God has shown me is that when I am angry if I act out I cannot take back what I have done. If there is an action I must take I can always do it later.
God has not gone away somewhere and left us to ourselves. Jesus gives us everything we need to bring glory and honor to Him and bless the people we love today!
Call on Jesus to bring healing and transformation into your life. Trust God with your feelings and emotions. Trust Jesus enough to turn every area of your life over to His care!
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones. Proverbs 16:24 NKJV
Our son walked away from the Lord. He was living in bondage to sin. His problems were self-imposed. He chose sinful living. He reached a point where it was not all fun and games. He was still a teenager. He wanted to live the life of an average kid again.
When people place themselves in danger with their bad choices it is easy to be critical and angry. It is easy to be judgmental and to give up on them.
I made difficult decisions with my son. I said difficult things to him. I made mistakes. I reacted in anger at times. The most effective statement I ever made to him was “You have not yet reached the point where God cannot bring healing and restoration into your life. You can be happy and healthy again!”
Proverbs 10:12 says, “Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins.” I have always looked at that verse in the context of my love for other people covering over my sins. I am beginning to realize is that my love for other people can cover their sin. I can forgive people who sin against me.
By loving people who are caught up in sin we can lead them to the one who can bring healing and restoration into their lives!
Sin is a trap. It is enjoyable for a season. The enjoyment of sin is the bait. Once the trap is set we are caught up by it. We are ashamed and embarrassed by our sin. We do not cry out for the help we need to be set free.
This scenario plays itself out in the lives of unsaved people and in the lives of saved people as well. It can happen to me today. It can happen to you today.
Our words carry the power of life and death. That means speaking words of encouragement to people who are caught up in sin can impact them in great and mighty ways. Our words of encouragement can help others fight through to victory in Jesus!
Encouraging other people with the promises and Word of God is a vital ministry desperately needed in the Body of Christ today!
Do you want to serve God? Do you want to be part of a vital Holy Spirit led ministry? Do you want to impact the lives of people and the world for time and eternity? Ask the Lord who you can speak words of encouragement to today!
Your words of encouragement spoken in faith can be the difference between life and death!
Encouragement could be just what a brother or sister needs to continue in ministry. Your words can bring a brother or sister home today! Step out in faith and serve Jesus by serving His people today!
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is in the Lord, For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:7 NKJV
God calls people whose hearts depart from Him cursed. They will be like shrubs in the desert. They will not see good when it comes upon the land. They will inhabit parched places in the wilderness. They will live in an unfruitful uninhabited land.
God makes a distinction between people who trust Him and people who put trust in their own resources. God promises to bless people who fear Him and honor Him.
I was a real estate broker. When the market was hot I made a lot of money. My family and I lived an extravagant lifestyle. What goes up must come down. The exuberance of the market faded. Our lifestyle did as well. Our resources dried up. Our spirits did not!
A short time later I was on my computer glorifying God. People all over the world started receiving these messages.
When we seek the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness before all other things we are blessed regardless of our circumstances. God reveals the power of His anointing and blessing during seasons of trials and hardship.
People who trust Jesus and make Him their hope are not fearful in seasons drought and famine!
If we trust Jesus will be blessed with prosperity of spirit. The Lord will produce fruits of righteousness through our witness of Jesus. We will be blessed because God is eternally faithful and true to His Word!
We will be like trees planted by rivers of living water. Living in a world scorched by sin and death will not make us fearful. We will not be fearful because our hope is in the Lord of Heaven and Earth. Our future is an eternity in the presence of Jesus!
We can have joy during times of economic decline. We can have hope in seasons of trial and hardship. Sin and death cannot defeat us as we journey through life in a fallen world if we build our lives on the solid rock of faith in Jesus Christ!
Our circumstances do not change God’s character. The blessings of God are eternal. They can never be taken away from us. If you put your hope in Jesus you will be blessed in this life and throughout eternity!
The bible tells us a wise man looks to the end of the matter. You do not look down at your feet when you walk. You look toward the direction you are walking.
If you are struggling through a season of hardship and trial take your eyes off your circumstances. Look ahead to the glory that awaits you when Jesus takes you home!
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Romans 11:29 NKJV
What does this verse of scripture mean? Can we live our lives anyway we want without consequences? Does it mean we are not responsible for our actions? Does it mean we cannot change our future or circumstances?
It means God created each of us with specific gifts and talents to be used for specific purposes. God has a specific plan for your life and mine. The Lord of heaven and earth designed you to meet a specific need in the Body of Christ.
I have a friend who shares the Lord with people wherever he goes. It is a very natural thing for him to do. He speaks Spanish. He is bi-cultural. God created him with specific gifts and talents to meet a specific need in a specific location at a specific point in time!
Can we hinder God’s plan for our lives? Yes, we can. If we trust God nothing can prevent Him from carrying out His good and perfect plan for our lives!
I saw a rainbow today. I was reminded of God’s promise. The Lord promised never to destroy the Earth with water again. God promised never to leave us or turn His back on us. Jesus promised to lead us and guide us in the way we should live!
I was reminded of promises God made specifically to me. The Lord called me His Servant. Jesus said He would enable me to speak for Him. Jesus said I would be His witness. The Lord said He would appoint me to the nations.
Did seeing a rainbow really stir up all those thoughts in my heart and mind? Yes, it did. I am unique among all the creatures God ever created. No one else is quite like me.
I get excited when I see ladybugs because they eat pests that can destroy a garden. I like hummingbirds because they remind me of the beauty of God’s creation. I like turtles because the Lord protects the meek and humble of this fallen world.
I write because God gave me a unique perspective a vivid imagination and the gift of gab.
No one else is quite like you. You can be a servant of Almighty God today. Jesus will enable you to speak for Him. You can be His witness. You can go to the nations and testify of God’s mercy and grace. You can tell people how much Jesus loves them!
God created you with specific gifts and talents to meet a specific need in the Body of Christ at a specific time in His-story!
Nothing can prevent Jesus from bring about His perfect will for your life. The spiritual gifts Jesus gave you and His calling on your life are irrevocable!
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace. Who bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:14-15 NKJV
The bible was written many years ago to the people living at that time. It was written for those of us living out our lives upon the earth today!
Proverbs 1:20 says Wisdom calls aloud in the street; she raises her voice in the public squares. God made wisdom available to people who lived in biblical times. Wisdom is available to us today. She calls out for us to obey the Word of God today!
A wise person looks at the eventual outcome of every decision he or she makes. The wisest decision any one can make is to live his or her life in God’s will.
People will not know the will of God unless someone shares it with them. They will not call out to the Lord unless they believe God exists. They will not know the truth of God unless someone shares truth with them!
It is our responsibility to share the Word of God with people. We are called to serve the Lord by serving His people. If you know Jesus He wants to use you to bring other people to salvation. Sharing the Word of God with people is a great privilege. It is a blessing!
God sees straight into our hearts. He knows the secret things He deposited into our hearts. If you have a desire to share the Lord with people Jesus gave you that desire. Jesus called you to speak to His people for Him today.
What will you say to the people Jesus sends you to?
Trust Jesus to put His desires in your heart. Trust Jesus to give you the words He wants you to speak to His people.
When you preach the gospel of peace to people who need Jesus you can be sure God sees the beauty in your heart. When you share the good news with people you can be sure your Heavenly Father is pleased!
Your heart is filled with the beauty only a child of God can possess. You are beautiful because you were created in the image and likeness of love!
Do not just tell people you believe in God. Tell them you know the Lord. Tell them Jesus wants to walk beside them as they walk through life. Tell other people God sees the beauty in their hearts!
As He says also in Hosea: I will call them My people, who were not My people, And her beloved, who was not beloved. And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, You are not My people, There they shall be called sons of the living God. Romans 9:25-26 NKJV
God was speaking to His people. They rejected His love. They rebelled against Him. They served and worshiped false gods. They set their desire on ungodly idols.
God is speaking to us. He is speaking to people who rejected His love. People living in rebellion against Him. He is speaking to people who worship false gods and idols today.
God was declaring His unconditional love for the nation of Israel. He is declaring His unconditional love for people living upon the earth today. God loves all people. The Lord created us to be loved by Him. Almighty God created us to love and adore Jesus.
People who have received the salvation of the Lord did not do anything to deserve God’s forgiveness. We did not earn God’s love and mercy any more than the children Israel did. Salvation is a gift of God not a reward we could do anything to earn.
Jesus is going to save untold numbers of people before He returns to the earth for us!
Jesus is going to do great and mighty things before He returns. We will see great signs and wonders. The greatest miracles of God will be in the lives of men and women who humble themselves before the Lord of glory!
People who were not previously the people of God will be called children of the living God. People who were not the beloved of God will be called His beloved. Men and women who were in bondage will be set free to live and abundant life of faith in Jesus!
No all people will be saved. Many will harden their hearts against Jesus. Do not be one of them!
God is merciful. He is longsuffering. Jesus is going to save people right before our eyes as we walk in faith and obedience to the Lord!
Jesus saved us as a witness and testimony to people who are perishing. Jesus saved us so we can be His witnesses and give testimony to His goodness mercy and love.
Jesus wants us to believe He can and will save even the most undeserving and lost people of our generation. Jesus wants us to believe Him for even greater and mightier works than we have yet seen.
Jesus wants you to step out in faith today. Jesus can use you to transform people’s lives and eternal destinies!
Will you trust Jesus today? Will you trust Him enough to step out in faith? Will you be counted among the beloved of God who are called by Jesus’ mighty name today?
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 NKJV
Do you love God? If so you know God loves you. You have responded to God’s love revealed in the person of Jesus Christ.
God has chosen you to be His servant. He has chosen you to show people how much Jesus loves them. God has chosen you to do great and mighty things in Jesus’ name.
You might be thinking, “What can I do?” In your own strength not much, but God, can do great and mighty things through you!
How do we walk worthy? By faith. Start by believing God is in control of all things. Believe God is molding you and shaping you into the image of Christ!
God loves to bless His children. He loves to shower His mercy and grace upon us. Sometimes the blessings of Almighty are delivered through hardship and struggle.
We will suffer trials and tribulations in this life. God tells us so in His word. We have an enemy who opposes the work of God in our lives. Rejoice, God uses trials, suffering, tribulations, and opposition to mold us and shape us into the image of Christ!
Once my wife and I gathered 49 pennies and walked to a grocery store wondering how we would feed our family of five. God provided a meal in a miraculous way. The Lord showed us that He is faithful to meet our needs when we are needy!
In a time of prosperity, the Lord said to me, “I will give you what you need when you need it.” I thought my financial cup would continue to run over. I am thankful it did not.
God kept His promise to give me what I need when I need it. God sees into our hearts. He knows what He needs to bring into our lives to meet our true needs. The Lord also knows what He needs to take away to build up our faith and bring us into His will!
The Lord knows what it takes to fulfill our calling as servants of God. He knows what it takes to lead us into the promised land of abundant living!
I know the great joy of feeling as though God is with me and blessing me. I also know what it is like to feel as though God has forgotten me and turned His back on me. God is faithful. He has always been with me giving me what I need exactly when I need it.
God promises never to leave you or forsake you. Hold on to that promise!
Walk worthy of you calling to be a servant of Almighty God through faith in Jesus Christ!
