And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I Am has sent me to you.” Exodus 3:14 NKJV
The Angel of the Lord appeared to Moses from a burning bush. God spoke to Moses. He performed amazing miracles when He met with Moses. God chose Moses to be His servant. God told Moses to deliver His people from bondage in Egypt.
If God spoke to me from a burning bush would I be properly impressed? If He turned my walking stick into a snake and made my arm leprous, would have my attention? Would I doubt God’s ability to do what He says He will do?
Moses believed he was standing before God. Moses was convinced of God’s power and authority. Moses had trouble believing God chose the right man for the job!
Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, the God of your father’s has sent me to you, and they say to me, what is His name? What shall I say to them?
And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel. I am has sent me to you”. God revealed Himself as “I Am” to reveal His unchanging nature to Moses. God declared that He is self-existent!
I have a habit of saying it is what it is. It is my way of dealing with the reality of a situation I cannot change. I will just have to accept it!
When the Creator of Heaven and Earth refers to Himself as “I AM” I hear God saying He is a reality we cannot ignore. God is the only being who simply is who He is. God is not subject to the whims of anyone or anything. He is The Almighty God!
I am comforted by the fact that God is the great “I Am”. His character is unchanging. God is good. He will always be good. God loves us. He will always love us. No created thing, circumstance or event can impact God’s existence in any way shape or form.
Jesus is a reality no created thing can ignore. No idea, thought, philosophy or belief system can change the reality that creation is subject to God’s power and authority!
Moses did not feel confident in His ability to complete the task God set before Him. The Lord did accomplish all He desired through Moses because He is the great “I Am”!
Jesus has a plan and a purpose for your life. You may not feel confident in your ability to complete the task God sets before you. God will perform the miracles. Your calling as the Lord’s servant is to trust the Great I AM to accomplish His desires for your life!
Jesus is not looking for men and women of great faith. He is looking for men and women who have faith in the Great “I Am”. Trust Jesus to be who is, the Self-Existent One who sits above and over all of creation!
