It is good to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your loving-kindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night, Psalm 92 NKJV
The psalmist exhorts people to praise God for His love and faithfulness. As I was praying and praising God Jesus spoke to me. I did not hear His voice with my ears. It was a thought out of place with my own that I heard with my heart. The Lord of creation called me His friend! Does praising God from a heart of thankfulness for His loving-kindness and faithfulness make us His friend? Does being a friend of God move us to praise Him for His loving-kindness and faithfulness? The answer to both questions is a resounding yes! Intimacy with Jesus can erupt into praise and thanksgiving anytime. Our praise and worship can be spontaneous. It can also be planned and rehearsed. There are two aspects of thanksgiving and praise I consider miraculous. The first is the impact it has on us. The second is the impact it has on God. Jesus created us to live in intimate relationship with Him. Do not let that truth stray far from the forefront of your thinking. Let it echo through the chambers of your heart! A heart filled with thanksgiving and praise for the one who loves us unconditionally is a full whole and holy heart. It is full because it contains the greatest of God’s gifts, love. It is whole because it is filled with the goodness of God. It is holy because Jesus dwells within it. Jesus inhabits the praise of His people. It moves Jesus closer to His beloved. Jesus inclines His ear to our voices because they give off a sweet smelling aroma to Him! Jesus longs to receive our love and devotion. Our thankfulness warms His heart. The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing, To declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. Vs 12-15 People who receive God’s love with joy and thanksgiving grow strong and straight. They are seated in heavenly places with God. Old age does not prevent them from serving Jesus and declaring His faithfulness to a hurting world. Are you a friend of God? If not, you can be. Jesus can fill your empty heart with His love. Jesus can mend your broken heart and make it whole. Jesus can set you apart for His glory and honor. Bless God today.
